I love this picture and the implications of it. I have been using psp for a while now but I have not really tapped into its potential. I am trying to rectify that and started witht this little tutorial. I am having trouble getting things to translate to PSPX.   Any help would be appreciated.  I will probably figure it out eventually but a little step in the right direction is always nice.  Anyway, thanks for the picture and idea and thanks in advance for any advice on getting it to work in PSP X.

Adam

my specific problem right now is that i can create the box and layer but when I select it to "modify" it...well I just cant. Modifying it is not an option at the point.   (frustrated)

This is the first tutorial I have tried on the site and pretty much went from point to point doing exactly what was said.
I love the style of your Tutorials Pinoy, your so easy to follow along with. Thanks for sharing the wealth of your knowledge.

I have attached my first effort.

Thanks again,

Hi Adam, I have done this tutorial in pspx and it came out great, here is what I did:

Use the "Rectangle" tool not the "Selection" tool - I had trouble with that tool in this version
Choose the Rectangle tool, with "Create as Vector" unchecked, also make sure on your materials pallete that you have chosen white as the background.
After making your rectangle and using the "Pick Tool" to rotate it, go to:
Selections/float
Sections/Save to Alpha Channel
Selections//modify/contract - hit delete
Selectios/Load from Alpha Channel
Selections/Invert
Click on the "Backgrond layer"
Adjust/Hue Saturation/colorize and use what Pinoy uses or what combination suites you
Selections/Invert
Effects/Drop shadow.

If you have trouble with it let me know and I will help you further with it. Smiley

Thankyou!

Are you having trouble rotating it with the deformation tool? I had that too.
The auto action box pops up and tell you to "promote to new layer".
The auto actions pop up when you're trying to do something thats not possible. It usually will tell you what needs to be done before you can proceed.

In this case after you have filled your selection you have to deselect before rotating. If you promote the selection to layer you'll have an extra layer so just deselect it first.

You can turn off the auto actions warnings in FIle>General programme preferences if you don't like them but I find they usually save me from making boo boos Roll Eyes
