6 Make a new layer (Layers>New). Then draw a smaller "Rounded Rectangle" using the "Selection" tool  inside the bar (See Figure 6)
Settings I used:
Selection Type = Rounded Rectangle
Feather = 0
Anti-alias = checked

Then, fill the selected area with "Linear Gradient" using the "Flood Fill" tool  using the following settings:
Fill Style = Linear Gradient
Blend Mode = Normal
Paper Texture & Match Mode = None
Opacity = 100
Sample Merged = NOT checked
(Under Flood Fill Options)
Gradient = Foreground-Background
Angle = 0
Repeats = 0
After applying the "Fill", click on Colors>Adjust>Gamma Correction
(R=.65 G=.65 B=.65)
