3 While your text is still selected, add another layer (Layers>New Raster Layer), label this "Shadow Layer".  Apply Drop Shadow Filter (Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow).  Deselect selection by pressing Ctrl+D.

Drop Shadow Settings: 
Vertical = 5   Horizontal = 4   Opacity = 90   Blur = 0   Color = Black

 

 
4  Make "Text Layer" your active layer, decrease its opacity to 50%.
