 Creating a Selection Using the Pen Tool
10  After joining the nodes, you might have a missed spot as shown in the image below. Create additional node in the marked area by holding down the CTRL button and clicking once on that spot.  Then drag that node to cover the missed area.

 

 
11  Here is your closed drawing around the apple's edge.  Before continuing, save your work as .pspimage for future editing.

 
12  Click on Swap Material once to change the fill color of the closed drawing.

 

Press "S" to activate the Selection Tool .  Then, press CTRL+A and click your mouse once anywhere on the image.  Save current selection to Alpha Channel (Selections>Load/Save Selection>Save Selection to Alpha Channel).

Make your base layer the current layer and press CTRL+C.  Press CTRL+V or CTRL+E to paste your cropped image as a new image or into another image.
