| 1 Make a new 300 x 300, 16 million color image, white background image. Set foreground color to White and background color to Black.
(Example of Foreground color set to White and Background color set to Black)
|
| 2 Set Grid ON (View>Grid)
Draw a rounded selection using the Selection Tool
(Selection Type = Circle Anti-Alias = Checked)
Save your selection to Alpha Channel (Selection>Save to Alpha Channel).

Figure 1
|
| 3 Hold down the [CTRL] key and draw a smaller rounded selection (See Figure below). Save current selection to Alpha Channel (Selection>Save to Alpha Channel), name your saved selection "Ring"

4 Apply a Linear Gradient Fill while Ring Selection is still active.

5 Set your foreground color to Black by clicking the bent icon on your Color Pallete Toolbar
Pick the Preset Shapes Tool and draw a rounded line inside your ring (See Figure 4).

| 6 Click on Image>Blur>Gaussian Blur (Radius = 7). You should now have a 3D looking Ring :)

7 The next trick is to apply text on the ring. I learned this trick from Jasc's Website. Another good site that offers Vector tutorial is State of Entropy. Pick the Preset Shapes Tool and draw a rounded line inside your ring (See Figure 6).
Shape Settings:
Shape Type = Circle
Style = Stroked
Line Width = 1
Anti-Alias = Checked
Create as Vector = Checked

8 Deactivate Grid (View>Grid). Choose the Text Tool and place the cursor over the new circle.
You will notice that your cursor will turn into this (See Figure 7).

| 9 Click your mouse to bring out the text dialogue box. Feed "spaces" depending on how many link buttons your going to have. I am going to use four linking buttons on this example. See figure below. Once you're done, click OK.
